We're not surprised that Beaufort was voted the Best Small Town in the South by Southern Living magazine many times. With its rich history, beautiful landscape, and family friendly environment, Beaufort offers something for everyone.
Whether you're a vacationer or a local rediscovering the beauty of the area, there are tons of great no cost activities to enjoy. Here are five great suggestions to help you discover some of what Beaufort has to offer.
1. Penn Center

2. Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park
The picturesque views and cool breezes are enough to put this place on your must-do list. In addition, the park features a little bit for everyone. There's a children's playground for the kids, benches and swings for those who just want to relax and take in the view, and a walking path for those who want to take a scenic walk. The park is pet friendly and also allows for fishing. The waterfront park is located in Downtown Beaufort off Bay st.

3. The Gullah Geechee Visitors Center
This newly opened center is a great resource for learning about Gullah Geechee culture. The center offers artifacts along with information on historical sites. It's a great place to start when planning a day of exploration in the Lowcountry. The Gullah Geechee Visitors Center is located at 870 Sea Island Pkwy; Saint Helena Island, SC 29920.

4. The Spanish Moss Trail
Enjoy a day of biking, running, or walking along this miles long paved path. Along the path you can also fish, bird watch, or just enjoy nature. Once completed, the path will stretch from Grays Hills, Beaufort, Burton, and Port Royal, to the Whale Branch Pier. 5. The Sands Beach
Every local knows about The Sand Beach and Port Royal Boardwalk. This place a gem. People enjoy everything from fishing, to boating, to swimming, to simply relaxing on the beach or a bench. Across the waters, you can see Parris Island and even hear some of the military training! The 4 story tower allows an even further view of the surrounding area.
